Old NewsMay 1999
WOW! I just got done playing BloodBath 5.0. I haven't had that much fun in a LONG time! You have to download this mod and get playing! Get the mod here!
The maker of the ill-fated Shugotenshi add-on for Shogo has released six deathmatch maps that were to have been a part of that add-on. The maps are quite nice and make me sad that Shugotenshi was axed. Download the Shogo Six Pack and see what might have been.
Even MORE news! Fierce Koala has just announced the release of Defending the Monolith v1.0! Download it here! Pack a lunch, though, it's a 10M download (oof!). Included are all new weapon models, two new classes, and a bunch more! Guess I've got even more fodder for the reviewing machine now!
Updates two days in a row?!? I added a review of TOW Arena 2.0 to my reviews page. Check out the review, then join me on the EZ-Net TOW Arena server! Coming soon, reviews of Bloodbath and ShogoPaint (and hopefully the new Squishie!).
It appears that Monolith is going to get the 3Dnow! renderer done for LithTech 1 (aka Shogo and Blood II). Exactly when is another question . . .
I also saw a review of Shogo's 3D sound on Ear on Games. They gave Shogo's EAX support a 3 out of 10 rating. I'm glad I found a review that verifies what I've been saying since I got my SoundBlaster Live Value. Shogo's EAX support is just plain bad. It's terribly muffled, and the sound really doesn't change when you go into a different area (i.e. from outside into a tunnel). That's a shame seeing as the in-game sounds in Shogo are quite good. Fortunately I can play with no 3D sound at all and just add my own amount of reverb through the Environmental Audio applet.
Rumors of Shogo's death may be slightly exaggerated. News is out of Monolith porting Shogo to the Mac and Hyperion Software is porting Shogo to the Amiga (for both of you who still use one).
Radikus CORE has dropped ShogoWorld, but it has been picked up by GhostClan. ShogoWorld will add skin support, easier MOD installation, and many other cool features. More information will be coming on this sweet project as soon as I can dig some up.
Sorry for not updating in a while, but we've been reviving RIP. Now we're smaller (only Ryan Greene, Quantus, and myself), but hopefully we'll be a bit more active and visible in the Shogo community. Keep an eye out for RIP!
The old news section has been revised. Each month's news is now on its own page. The "everything on one page" method was getting just a bit cumbersome. I also updated the link to the TOW Arena homepage because it is now under the newly-formed BS Productions.
Speaking of which, the EZ-Net Shogo Server is now a TOW Arena server! Grab the mod and maps, set your TOW on "purée", and get fragging!
That nasty client.rez is now a full-blown MOD! Check out the BloodBath homepage and then download the MOD!
Also, version 1.0 of Shogo Paint is now out. You can download it here. It looks like I've got some reviewing to do!
