It seems that author of the aforementioned client.rez is Spectre-GC- who admitted that it was probably a bad idea, although he never intended it to be a widespread cheating tool. He thinks that most of the copies of the rez are gone, and I hope he's right. The cool thing is that he wants to do some MOD work which would absolutely rule. More power to ya, Spectre!
Bunghole and Smoth have formed BS Productions and have developed a mod called Shogo Paint which adds color to bullet holes for more interesting bullet art. Check out beta .05 here, then send Bunghole your artwork! I'll give you more detailed information once I get this bad boy downloaded.
It was also mentioned on the PlanetShogo forums by Reinhart that Squishie 2.2 will be a part of ShogoWorld once that gets released. That's why we haven't seen it out yet. Check Radikus CORE for more information on ShogoWorld.
If you read the PlanetShogo forums at all you already know that someone has come up with a new client.rez file. This rez will give you souped up weapons that are usable in multiplayer on any server. This is cheating, plain and simple. I strongly encourage anyone who really cares about Shogo multiplayer NOT to download this MOD and for servers to ban anyone who uses it. It's hard enough to find someone to play against online. It will be completely impossible if cheating becomes rampant.
I made a minor change to the DtM review. When I was playing last night, I couldn't change teams at all. Another bug . . .
Shogo locked on me again last night while trying to play TOW Arena. Quantas told me that Shogo's multitexturing support doesn't work with the TNT. I'll try disabling that and see if it works. I'll nab this bug yet.
A new feature makes its debut on the Haus of Shogo! I've added a Reviews section in which I will give my $.02 on various custom mods and maps available for Shogo. The first to face review is the .95 beta of Defending the Monolith. Check it out! I also (finally) got around to adding DtM to my Mods page.
In the "OK, that's not it" dept., Shogo crashed on me whilst playing DtM last night, even with triple buffering turned off. After actually reading the readme file (go figure!) for my graphics card, I noticed their suggestions in case of lock-ups. One was to turn off Video BIOS Shadowing in the BIOS. I turned it off, so now we'll see if that does the trick . . . That's what I get for upgrading my motherboard, sound card, and video card all at once!
A special welcome to Ryan Greene (aka the RIPper formerly known as Joltox) for finally being able to play Shogo online with us!
I have been having some problems with Shogo locking up on my lately. I had been blaming the Defending the Monolith mod, but it turns out that it's a Shogo problem in general. Flypcyd /NERV/ told me that turning off triple buffering will help eliminate the crashes. I'll give you a report back in about a week. Hopefully this'll do it.
I was reminded today of an old tip. I don't know if I ever posted it. In multiplayer, you can automatically switch to a better weapon when you pick it up by adding this to your autoexec.cfg file:"AutoWeaponSwitch" "1" The disadvantage is that the Squeaky Toy is considered the "best" weapon (it has the highest trigger number) so you will always switch to it when you pick it up.
A new beta of Defending the Monolith (version .95 beta) is out. You can download it here. This new version takes care of the "Sanjuro" bug. If you've played the older betas, you know what I'm talking about.
TOW Arena 2.0 is out! Get it here! If you never downloaded 1.0, you'll also need the maps. You can get those here. What are you waiting for? Download it already!
Well, my new system is running smoothly (finally) with some special help from Quantas (husband of RIP's very own SarahConnor). I couldn't understand why Shogo was so flaky (thank God for Norton CrashGuard) on my new system. Also I could never see the skins of other players in multiplayer. Thanks to Quantas' patience, I found out that my problem was neither my computer nor Shogo. You guessed it--operator error! I patched my fresh reinstall of Shogo with the 2.1 to 2.2 patch instead of the 1.0 to 2.2. Duh. I'm amazed that Shogo ran at all.
Bunghole mentioned on the TOW Arena page that version 2.0 is almost complete! Make SURE that you check it out once it is done. Even the kinda buggy 1.0 version rocks the dance floor. Hopefully SSpeare will get the new Squishie out and Mac will get the new CTF out soon. That will be interesting, to say the least. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Bunghole, SSpeare, Mac, and countless others who put in long, hard, and often thankless hours to make mods for us. Kudos guys! Keep up the great work!
The Haus just got its 1,000th hit! A big "thank you" to all our loyal visitors!
Sometime this week or early next week my computer's going to get a brain transplant. I'm upgrading to a Celeron 400, Creative TNT AGP video, and Sound Blaster Live! Value soundcard. Everyone had better get their frags in now . . . :)
TOW Arena, Shogo's answer to Quake's Rocket Arena, has been officially released! Pick up the TOW Arena mod here, the TOW Arena maps here, and read more about TOW Arena here. This mod requires Shogo 2.2.
Well, I tried playing TOW Arena for a bit and I must admit it is very cool. The problem is that there appear to be some, ahem, issues yet to be resolved. Both servers I've been on so far have crashed. I posted the details on the PlanetShogo TOW Arena forum so hopefully Bunghole (the mod's author) can squish the bugs.
