SSpeare mentioned on the PlanetShogo Forums that he hopes to have Squishie 2.2 done by this weekend. He's adding some features to it instead of just updating it to Shogo 2.2. I, for one, can't wait!

On the hardware front, it looks like I'm heading for a Celeron 400. I can keep my memory that way. I may need to splurge and buy an ATX case while I'm at it. Not that you asked, but check out Modern-PC, a division of our host EZ-Net, for your hardware needs. Tell 'em A.T. Hun sent you.

No word yet on the 3Dnow! renderer, hopefully soon. That leads me to another point. I'm considering some upgrading for my K6 233 and Diamond Stealth II S220. Right now, I'm toying with a brain transplant (K6-2 400) or a new video card (Voodoo3 2000 PCI, seeing as I have no AGP slots). I really don't need the speed for anything except games, so the video would seem to be the most cost-effective solution. Any thoughts?

Barring death or dismemberment (which is always a real possibility with us), [RIP] will be practicing on the EZ-Net server tonight from about 8-10 P.M. CST.

I found two cool maps on the Net that I haven't found on PlanetShogo. One is a remake of Quake's E1M7 boss level. A little dark, but good for reminiscing. I found this one at Shogo's Old No. 7.

I also recently found a VERY cool map called OF_Labyrinth which has to be one of the finest maps I've ever seen. Check them out!

Word on the streets is that updating mods for v2.2 is a little more complicated that they first imagined. Monolith apparently made some serious changes to the network code. I'm beginning to go into Squishie withdrawal . . .

So far my impression of the patch has been pretty positive. Everything seems a little "snappier" and the online games I've played seem to work a little more nicely.

ICQ seems to be messing up the way it handles its online indicators. Thus the ones on the RIP page are not showing the proper status. I double-checked my code and everything's OK on my end anyway.

The 2.2 patch is out! At last! If you already patched Shogo to version 2.1, you can download a smaller patch (3.7M) here. If you haven't patched Shogo at all, you can get the full patch (9.1M) here.
New features include:

Support for 3D sound (A3D, EAX, or DirectSound3D)

Extended joystick support
Fixed bugs include:

Fixed bugs with multitexturing

Added stability to ShogoServ.exe and server.dll

Other various and sundry minor patches and fixes
What are you waiting for? Go get the patch!

One caveat about the new patch: none of the mods will work until the 2.2 source code is released and the mods can be recompiled. I talked briefly with SSpeare on his server this morning and it seems like the recompiling shouldn't be a big deal. The source code is supposed to be out today.

Sorry I've been so bad about updating recently. This is kind of a busy time of year for me.

Since there are so many new maps coming out, it's almost impossible for me to keep up with them (and it's rather pointless seeing as it's all on PlanetShogo anyway). Thus, I changed the maps page. Instead of listing every map, I list my favorites for gameplay, design, or both. Check it out!

I keep hearing rumors that the 2.2 patch will be out in a day or two. 'Course, I've been hearing that the patch is thisclose for about a month now . . .

I discovered a cool new way to hide if you're a Squishie in the Squishie vs. MCA mod. You can hide inside a car and even shoot out (only with "bullet" weapons, not TOWs or grenades). Of course, if the car blows up, you're toast.
